Year-Round Swim Teams

Try outs for year-round swim teams are usually in July.

1. Columbia Aquatic Association  (CAA) Clippers Swim Team

Interested in Becoming a Columbia Clipper for the Clippers 2008-2009 Season?

The Clippers will hold open tryouts for swimmers age 6 and older at the Thunder Hill Pool (5134 Thunder Hill Road, Columbia MD 21045) on July 8th, July 15th & July 22nd beginning at 6:30pm. Interested swimmers need to attend only one of the three tryout sessions. 

After all tryout sessions have been completed, the coaching staff will assess the swimmer evaluations and place in swimmers in applicable practice groups. If there are openings in the practice group, the swimmer will be offered a spot on the team. If there are NO open spots in the practice group, the swimmer will be placed on a waitlist. 

Swim Team Fees are based on assigned practice group. Meet Fees are not included in the Swim Team Fees. There is a $50 Team Registration Fee per swimmer and $65 USA Swimming Registration fee per swimmer. 

Swimmers must be a CA Member or CA Resident to join the swim team.

2. UMBC Retriever Aquatic Club (RAC) Swim Team

Retriever Aquatic Club tryouts for the 2008-09 season are Monday July 21st and Tuesday July 22nd at at 5:00pm.

3. Howard County YMCA Manta Rays Swim Team (HCY)

2007-2008 YMCA Howard County Swim Team Tryouts
Swim team tryouts are being held on Sunday, July 29, according to the following schedule:

6:45-7:30 p.m. (5-8 year olds): Swimmers must be able to swim one lap of free and back strokes without a floatation device.

7:15-8:00 p.m. (9-12 year olds): Swimmers must be able to swim two laps of free, back, butterfly and breast strokes without a floatation device.

7:45-8:30 p.m (13-18 year olds): Swimmers must be able to swim two laps of free, back, butterfly and breast strokes without a floatation device.

All candidates must be able to meet the minimum qualifications. Parents are required to attend. You must attend tryouts to be eligible; no additional tryouts will be held.
